My Valentine (and DT call!)

So Austin was sick for a week, then Eryn got sick, followed by myself. Yep...I'm sick. :( And I have no doubt that it won't be long before Hayden gets it too. :( No matter how hard I try to sanitize or keep the sickies isolated...we all seem to get sick...every time.

Today I am sharing a Valentine's Day layout with you all, but it is slightly different then a typical Valentine's layout. And it doesn't include a picture of me and my valentine, I didn't have any of us together on that day, it is just a picture of my Valentine this year.

I played along with Prima's February BAP challenge. Here's the BAP sketch they had for February:

And here is the layout I made for it:

I was lucky enough to get my hands on some new Prima goodies and I was excited to be able to play with them. :)

Here are some close up's of my layout:

I used Helmar adhesives to put it all together, I just used the 450 Quick Dry Adhesive for everything. It works great for flowers.

And did you see this????

Hip Hop!!!

It's Thursday...which means Hip Hop! You'll want to start the hop at the Unity Blog.

Today I will be sharing a layout with you that uses one of the new Itty Bitty's:

Love this set! You can see it/buy it here.

And here is the layout I made with it:

All the papers and trims are from Webster's Pages. It's their Spring Market line. I did this layout for their February challenge to use trims. And boy did I ever use some trims. :) I love trim.

Here are some close up's of the layout:

I used adhesive from Helmar to put it all together, including 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and then some Liquid Scrap Dots (for the small picture and the heart).

Have you heard about the new monthly challenges that Unity is doing? Every month, on the 15th, there will be a new challenge and a new chance to win! This month's challenge is all about the hearts. Check it out here.

Dance Baby Dance

My son is such a goof ball sometimes. Thankfully, he doesn't mind me taking pictures of him. In fact, he usually asks for me to take pictures. Like this day, Hayden said he was going to show me his dance and that I should take pictures. :)

This layout was on the Fancy Pants blog last month, so you may have seen it there already. It uses the Love Birds line from FP. We were supposed to highlight the alphabet stickers. I decided to make a banner using them. I put each letter on a piece of paper and then added stitching on top for a banner look. I outlined my letters as well to make them stand out a bit more. Then for the 'the' part I wanted it to kinda be in the background and not be so bold. So I cut around the stickers on my sticker sheet and then took the actual letters off and used the 'trash' part for my letters.

Here are some close up's:

Hope you have a fantastic day!!!

You Know You're a Scrapbooker When...

So it's the day AFTER V-day, and I still have a sick child on the couch. He still does not have his valentines or candy from the classmates. Hopefully he will be able to go to school tomorrow and then he'll get them.

Well today I am sharing a layout with you. It uses the store kit (exclusive to stores) from Unity Stamp Company called "Oh Happy Day."

And if you are anything like me, then you start singing as soon as you hear that name. Seriously...EVERY time, I sing. :) Anyways, this set is perfect for birthdays....but that's not what I used it for. ;) To see what the rest of the DT did with this kit, click here.

Here's my layout:

The papers are all from Cosmo Cricket, from their "Pixie-Licious" collection.

SOOOO....my neighbors probably know I am a scrapbooker, but who else would take a picture after their daughter LAID in a puddle of water. ;) Yep. And I tried to turn and get a picture of hubby's face as he saw her: :)

Haha...was going to put that one on the page too, but I couldn't figure out how to do it justice. So maybe I will do a page of just this photo.

Anyways, back to the layout...

Here are some close up's, so you can see all the details.

I used chipboard from Magistical Memories. I used some of the "clouds" pieces, and one of the "Art Deco Stems" pieces. I covered them with paint and before the paint could dry I sprinkled a little bit of glitter on it. The green got only a tiny bit of glitter while I put more on the clouds.

And you probably already know this about me, but I don't do flat very well. I like texture and dimension on my stuff. I tried something new this time. I created borders with paper that come together on one end and make a loop (tried to not make a crease) on the other end. Then I sewed it to my page with my sewing machine on the top, so the bottom pops out.

I'm sure it will flatten over time, but I really liked the way this turned out. I was going to do it with fabric, but then thought, hey...why not just do it with paper.

I did use adhesive from Helmar to put the whole thing together, using just the Quick Fix Adhesive Runner.

And there you have it...my layout and all the details of it.

Hope you have a fantastic day!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Seems like such a silly day. :) Ours is off to a sad/bad start. My 7 year old son was getting ready this morning for school and he sat on the couch and started crying. He didn't look good. I asked him what was wrong and he told me that he had really bad nightmares last night and they gave him a headache. I felt his head and he was very hot. He did not want to miss the Valentine's Day party at school and was so bummed when I told him that he had to stay home today. It breaks your heart to tell your kid that he can't go to the party he's been looking forward to all weekend.

Now he is laying on the couch. We dropped off his Valentines and asked that his teacher collect his for him. But he is still bummed about it. I think for lunch I will make him some chicken noodle soup and serve it to him with a Valentine's card from me.

I may use this one:

The team over at My Little Shoebox is sharing Valentines cards with you on the blog today. This was the one I made. It uses some of their new stuff! Make sure you check out this post to see what others created.

Sketch 241

Well, today is Monday, which means I share a new sketch with you. However, today the sketch is NOT by me...February is full of sketches created by the DT members :) Today's sketch was created by the lovely Shannon. Here it is:

And here are some wonderful samples from the SC girls...

Cards

Thought I'd share some cards I made with you. They all use the new collections from Fancy Pants Designs. I have really been enjoying making cards lately. For me, that comes and goes in waves. Sometimes I love making cards, and sometimes I dread making them. I have never felt that I am that good at cards. But I just have to get over that. :)

Here are the cards:

This card uses the new "It's The Little Things" line from Fancy Pants. I just LOVE this line!!!! I made the card out of their flocked transparency, and then placed a journaling die cut in the center so I can write the message.

And then this card uses the new Beach Bum line. This actually started as a layout, but I was just not liking it...it wasn't coming together. I had already done the cloud stitching and everything. But since I was unhappy with it...I cut off a section and put it on a card. That seemed to work better.

And then this card uses the new To The Moon line. My son says he loves this card. :) And that is why this line is so great, it is PERFECT for BOYS!

So, do you guys make a lot of cards? Do you feel like you are better at certain things then others? For example, I think I am way better at scrapbook layouts then cards or altering. Maybe nobody can rock it all...or at least nobody thinks they rock it all. :)

Hope you have a fantastic day!!!

It is called "Tell Me More" and it is absolutely perfect for scrapbooking. ;)

So I bet you want to see my layout now, huh? Well here it is...

The papers are all from Bella Blvd too...new ones. ;) And I used adhesive from Helmar to put the whole thing together. I used the Quick Fix Adhesive Runner and some Zapdots.

Here are some close up's:
